18 Students and one professor from Lakehead University, Thunder Bay, Ontario are embarking on an eight day dog sledding expedition through Northern Minnesota. To learn more about each of the members of the 2008 Lakehead Dogsledding class, scroll down or click on a name in the following list.
Hometown: Toronto...but don't hold that against me
Interests: cooking, yoga, skiing, hiking, pies and sandwiches
Trip Goals : to learn how to survive in a winter environment,master outdoor skills and to have fun
Hometown: Eden Mills, Ontario
Interests: I love being in the outdoors, running, skiing, snowshoeing, kayaking, doing yoga, exploring, teaching and learning.
Program: Outdoor Recreation with a specialization in Leadership/ Concurrent Education/ B.Sc Natural Science
Trip Goals: am excited to be working with such an amazing group of people in the rustic woods outside of the Voyageour Outward Bound School (VOBS). For me, adding dogs into the winter camping scenario is going to add a beautiful and exciting challenge! Running this trip through VOBS will give us all a chance to see how an experienced wilderness school organizes a challenging trip and allow us to learn from the outdoor professionals we will be meeting through this experience.

Interests: A variety of sports including hockey, rugby, swimming, biking and volleyball. I Love the outdoors, especially paddling, winter camping and travel and fishing.
Trip Goals: A better use of traditional winter travel, and I'm stoked to be working with Outward Bound and the dogs themselves. I am also looking forward to the solo experience on the trip.

Trip Goals: I hope to get out of the dog sledding trip a better understanding of the dogs and the sport. Working with different people and a better understanding of my own limits.

Homeland: Born in the Kootenays, but grew up in and around the Rockies near Calgary in the summers, and way up north in Ft McMurray in the winters.
Interests: I love the winter environment - everything from cross country skiing to glacial travel to just exploring frozen rivers.
Trip Goals: Dog sledding will be a brand new experience for me, and will introduce me to yet another form of winter travel. Im stoked to get out there and spend a whole lot of time in the cold with dogs and people and the frozen land.

Interests: What a difficult term to list off of. I am interested in anything and everything, but my passions include connecting with people and myself on a grounded level, especially in the wilderness. I have always been an avid alpine skier, and in the last few years I have become really interested in white water paddling. Music has always been in my soul and writting music is what keeps my mind breathing.
Trip Goals: Like many others on our team, it will be exciting to gain more experience winter camping, especially for the solo night. I am as well, looking forward to learn about the social dynamics that will take place in our group. It will be an interesting, exciting lesson to learn how Outward Bound functions and to be facilitated by a winter camping professional.

Interests: Although eating is my favourite pastime, I really enjoy the outdoors, being active, paddling, fishing, birding, cycling, hockey, golf, and all sports really. I also enjoy to relax with a good book and a nice cup of tea.
Trip Goals: I am really looking forward to this dog sledding trip not only because my love of dogs and snow, but also because I will be working with Outward Bound which is a renowned organization in the outdoor industry. I am also looking forward to the group dynamics of my team and the solo overnight adventure. And oh yeah, I love dogs and snow.
